The effects of Interactive Play Therapy Program on a daily stress, hopelessness, suicide thought and, self-esteem of depressed children

Abstract
This study was designed to test the effects of Interactive Play Therapy Program on a daily stress, hopelessness, suicide thought and, self-esteem of depressed children. To find out students who is highly depressed, we used such instruments as Children¡¯s Depression Inventory(CDI). This study was undertaken for the subjects of 576 students of a elementary school located in Daegu. Among the participants with high depression 32 students were selected and 24 students among them who wanted to participate on this program were divided at random into the treatment group and control group. The research design was the pretest, posttest, follow-up test control group design. The experimental group children participated in a Interactive Play Therapy Program of 10 sessions for 4 weeks at the elementary school in Daegu. The data were analyzed by mean, standard deviation and was verified a independent t-Test between the treatment group and the control group observing differences between pre and post, pro and follow-up tests. This Interactive Play Therapy Program included 4 steps for building relationship, psychological investigation, insight &, coping skill process, and closing remarks. Results show that the Interactive Play Therapy Program was effective in reducing a daily stress, hopelessness, suicide thought, self-esteem. Finally, we discussed the limitations and the suggestions of this study.
